Obituary

MARSHALL , Zdzislawa Kazimiera, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 6, 1944, in Swarzędz, Poland, Zdzisława (better known as "Babcia") lived a life shaped by history, defined by resilience, and filled with fierce love. She grew up in a world that demanded strength, and she met it with a strong will, a sharper wit, and a determination that would become one of her most legendary qualities.

Zdzislawa immigrated to the United States from Poland and she brought her homeland with her in every way that mattered.  Her home was a little slice of Polska.

In Poland, she worked for LOT Polish Airlines, and later tended bar at Dom Polski in Flint, Michigan — a job she remembered fondly. But her life's greatest devotion was her family.

She was fiercely proud of her son, Edward Victor Marshall, and welcomed his wife, Natalia Marshall, as a daughter of her heart. Her grandchildren — Isabella, Veronika, Emilia, and Evelina — were her pride and joy. She spoiled them endlessly.

Zdzislawa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Marshall, with whom she shared a marriage full of laughter, resilience, joy, adventure, and devotion. She is survived by her loving siblings Maria Fiedorowicz, Lecha Karlsson, and Grażyna Jasiewicz, and remembered with love by her late sisters, Joanna Szymańska and Luja Stelmach.

She found deep peace in her garden, especially among her roses, which she tended to with the same love and care she gave to her family. If you visited Babcia, you never left her home hungry.  She also doted on her dogs, Bandit and Max, who were her constant companions and fiercely loyal shadows.

She had opinions, and she wasn't shy about sharing them. Her will was a force of love: she fought for what mattered, defended the people she cared about, and held tightly to the traditions and values that made her who she was.

She will be remembered not just for her cooking, her care, or her stories, but for her strength, her determination, her deep kindness, and the love that radiated from her.   Zdzislawa was the foundation of her family — unshakable, fiercely loyal, and always, always full of love.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home.  Rev. Fr. Anthony Strouse will officiate.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the time of service Saturday.
