Yvonne
Mabee
May 2, 1961 — Feb 25, 2025
Flushing
Yvonne Mabee (Thomas) passed away at the age of 63 on Tuesday, February 25th in Flushing, MI while surrounded by family and friends. Born Yvonne Griffin on May 2nd, 1961, in Richmond, Kentucky, she spent most of her life in Monroe, MI where she married her first love, Manuel. They moved to Missouri for a short time before settling back in Monroe to raise their two children.
Yvonne loved going to concerts and people-watching at the Renaissance festival. Along with her best friends, Shannon and Shawna, she enjoyed attending the Tulip Festival and "shopped 'til they dropped" in both Frankenmuth and at antique stores. Yvonne and Manuel shared a loving bond towards their family. She deeply loved her children, and they enjoyed going on road trips and watching scary movies together. Yvonne took an active role in the lives of her grandchildren through babysitting, teaching crafts, spoiling them with treats, attending performances, spending countless hours at apple orchards, and carving pumpkins.
Yvonne will be remembered for her loving attitude and kindness, along with her laugh. Her practical jokes would always bring a smile to your face. Her family grieves their loss and will miss her terribly.
Yvonne is preceded by her father, James Griffin, and sister, Debbie Johnson.
Yvonne is survived by her mother, Juanita Griffin; ex-husband and friend Manuel Thomas; children Joshua (Kimberly) Thomas, Alisha (Thomas) Sligh; sister Elaine (David) McKenzie; along with five beloved grandchildren, Xander, Quinn, Declan, Brexton, and Alden; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Friday, March 14th at Redeemer Fellowship Church, 5305 Evergreen Dr, Monroe, Michigan 48161. Service will be held at 5pm followed by a meal.
