OROSZ, William, of Flint Township, Age 85, died Tuesday, July 8, 2015 at Genesys Healthpark. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Monday, June 13, 2015 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Rev. Sarah Larose-Nettell officiating. Final interment will occur later at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Mr. Orosz will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may visit 4 – 8 PM Sunday and 9:00AM – 11:00AM Monday. Mr. Orosz was born April 16, 1930 in Flint, the son of Aladar and Helen (Toth) Orosz. He married Gertrude Joanne Orosz in 1951 in San Antonio, Texas while both were in the US Air Force. Mr. Orosz served in the US Air Force at Lackland AFB in Texas from October 1950 – Nov 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Buick in 1984 after more than 30 years as a Tool Maker. Before, during and after working at Buick, Mr. Orosz was involved in handgun marksmanship tournaments- winning both trophies and medals throughout the United States. He also was an avid squirrel hunter, loaded his own ammunition, enjoyed camping, and collected American Rifleman and Flying magazines for over 60 years. His years as a small plane pilot gave him much enjoyment. Bike riding, canoeing and visiting the Tall Ships in Bay City and watching the ships pass through Port Huron area were favorite activities. The Detroit Tigers were his all-time favorite baseball team. Surviving are: daughters , Diane Morrow and Linda Castagnier; grandsons, Nick (Angela) Poliskey and Christopher (Maureen) Poliskey; granddaughter, Jodi (Jake) VanWoerkom; nephew, Jim (Susan) Orosz; great grandsons, Alex , Andrew and Mikey Poliskey and Ethan VanWoerkom ; great granddaughter Morgan Poliskey; great nephew , Tom Orosz, and special extended family especially David. Mr. Orosz was preceded in death by his brothers Aladar, Arpad and Elmer; nephew William Orosz. He was also preceded by the three wonderful women who loved him throughout the years, Joanne, Kitty and June.
