EDWARDS, Verna Jean (Vernie), of Flushing, age 82, passed away at home surrounded by family, December 7, 2021.  Cremation has taken place.  Vernie was born January 19, 1939 in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Clarence and Verna (Goodchield) LaMay.  She married the love of her life, Gerald, January 3, 1957.  She resided in Flushing most of her life.  Vernie enjoyed being with her kids and grandkids whenever she could.  She was the best homemaker and Mama ever!  She is survived by her 5 children, Gerald (Jerry) Lee Edwards, Carrie Cook, Kelly (Kevin) Clary, Lori (Russ Parker) Edwards, and Julie (Ray) Barker; 9 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sisters, Mary and Gloria; many nieces and nephews (many of whom say she was a favorite sunt); and many friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald, son-in-law Dennis Cook, and 3 siblings.  She is also preceded by her beloved dog, Presley, who was named after Elvis of course (we all knew Presley was her favorite child).  The family would like to thank Dawn and the other nurses and CNA's from First Hospice for all their care and help in moms final weeks.  We love and miss her so much already.  We will see you again mom.
