BEECHER, Scott Kenyon, of Flint, age 51, passed away peacefully August 27, 2026 at his home with his dad by his side. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 3, 2026, Rev. Bernard Drew officiating. Cremation will follow. Mr. Beecher will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 North Ballenger Highway, Flint Township, where friends may visit 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday. Scott was born in Flint, January 5, 1975, to Reginald and Nancy (Ockert) Beecher. He had a severe clubfoot and underwent many surgeries throughout his life to correct it. He grew up in Flint, Michigan, and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1994. Despite the physical challenges he faced, Scott had a quiet and distinctive way of being himself, and he was deeply loved by those closest to him. Scott’s mom lovingly nicknamed him “String” because of his height, after the Grand Ole Opry performer Stringbean. The nickname was a reminder of the special bond between Scott and his mom.He found enjoyment in the things he loved most, especially going out to eat and playing video games and board games. He was not much of a sports fan, but he could be very competitive when it came to his games, and he certainly did not like losing. Scott attended West Court Church of God, where he thought highly of Pastor Bernard Drew and enjoyed the church.Scott is survived by his parents, Reginald and Nancy Beecher; his sister, Jennifer Beatty; three nieces and one nephew, Heather, Haley, Holly, and Ryan; his aunts and uncles, Edwin and Betty Beecher, Maureen Smith, Michael and Jean Ockert, John and Mary Jane Ockert, Wanda and Brian O’Leary, and Joanne and Don Hendrick. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew Lee Beecher and Mamie Lee Carter-Beecher, Michael L. Ockert, and Phyllis and Don O’Leary; and his aunts and uncles, Edward and Barbara Beecher, Joycelyn and Claude Gardiner, and Darwin Beecher.
