RHYNE, Robert James, of Flint Township, age 88, died SUnday, February 18, 2018 at his residence.  Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, February 23, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth, Rev. Fr. Anthony J. Strouse officiating.  Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery.  Mr. Rhyne will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8PM Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Pius Parish.  Mr. Rhyne was born in Flint, Michigan, April 28, 1929.  He served in the Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict.   He was an active skydiver with over 2000 jumps.  He loved his Harley-Davidsons and enjoyed sailing.  He retired in 1985 after 37 years at Chevrolet Manufacturing Plant 4. He and his wife enjoyed vacationing in Florida.  His granddaughters were his "favorite things."  Surviving are his wife, Virginia; daughter, Laurene Rhyne of Charlotte, North Carolina; son, Michael (Sandy) Rhyne of Byron, Michigan;  granddaughters, Rachel and Michelle.
