SMITH, Maxine M., of Swartz Creek, age 95, died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at McLaren Flint. Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home,
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may call 11AM - 8 PM Wednesday and Thursday. An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home 7 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to The Mundy Presbyterian Church. Maxine was born in Flint, March 8, 1922, the daughter of Carl and Madge (Spickler) Traynor. She married Frederick M. Smith, July 26, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of the Mundy Presbyterian Church. Maxine was a member of Linden Chapter #175, O.E.S. for nearly 75 years. She was twice past Worthy Matron of the Chapter and service as Genesee County Eastern Star organist for many years. She was also organist for Swartz Creek Chapter #430 and Linden Chapter #175. Maxine was the kind smiling face greeting visitors at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home for many, many years. Surviving are: 2 sons, Frederick M. Smith, Jr, and Mark M. and wife Karen Smith; 2 daughters, Luci Mize and husband Thomas, Madge Fenner and husband Mike; daughter-in-law, Karen Smith; 11 grandchildren, Thomas Mize II, Bradley Smith, Matthew Smith, Shannon Smith, Lisa Smith, Adam Smith, Gerald Smith Jr., Melissa Smith, Natalie Parker, Thomas Parker, and Timothy Parker; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Shirley Hemingway; several nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Smith and her son Gerald Smith.
