GILSDORF, Mary Ann, of Flint, age 87, died Saturday, September 23, 2017 at McLaren Flint. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11AM Friday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Rev. Fr. Thomas Firestone officiating. Burial in Old Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Gilsdorf will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may visit 4-8 PM Thursday, and at the church from 10 AM until the time of service Friday.. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John Vianney Parish or the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Gilsdorf was born in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, February 2, 1930, the daughter of Ignatius and Helen (Hudock) Ostrowski. She married Frank Gilsdorf in Detroit, Michigan, June 12, 1948. He preceded her in death, April 7, 2009. She loved Frank and her family, her faith, cooking, music, the theatre, birds, dogs, and crocheting. She and Frank were able to travel extensively, frequently including a dixieland jazz festival along the route. All the members of the New Reformation Dixieland Jazz Band and Wally's Warehouse Waifs were like a second family to Mary Ann and Frank. She spent many years in quiet service to others. Surviving are: daughter Teresa (Tom) Hilliard of Troy, Michigan; son Dennis (Marilyn) Gilsdorf of Fenton, Michigan; grandchildren Robert (Patti) Hilliard of Portage, Michigan, Marj (Nick) Cochran of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Emily and Sarah Gilsdorf; great-grandchildren Carter and Teah Hilliard; brother, Ed (Judy) Ostrowski; sister-in-law Cathy (Jim) Jones; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank and brother Jerry Ostrowski.
