COMPTON, Mary Nell, of Durand, age 85, died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at McLaren Flint.  A celebration of Mary's life will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Pastor Sarah LaRose officiating.  Private interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.  Mary will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 North Ballenger Highway, Flint Township, where friends may visit 11:00 AM until the time of service Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lodges of Durand.  Mary was born May 29, 1936 in New Site, Mississippi, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Brackeen) McMullen.  Surviving are:  her daughter, Debra (Richard) Bowen; son, Mark Anthony Despain; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and she was "GG" to 10 great great grandkids. Also surviving are:  brother, Harold McMullen; sister, Judy McMullen; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray Compton, special friend, Richard Hasse, several siblings, and 3 sons, David, Dewayne, and Danny.  Special thank you to Durand Lodges Memory Care Unit, Jeri Birchmire and staff.
