JOHNSON, Louise Joyce, of Montrose, age 94, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Fostrian Assisted Living, Flushing. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home where friends may visit from 10 AM until the time of service Wednesday. Louise was born November 29, 1925 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Sadie (Kelly) and Joseph Kinzel. She married C. B. Johnson in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1995. Raised during the Great Depression she was quick to share anything she had with anyone in need. Joyce worked during WWII at the AC spark plug factory making bullets for aircraft guns. Later she joined GM to work at the Chevy engine plant as an inspector for 23 years until retirement. A loyal member of the UAW her father Joseph taught her by example. When Joyce was but five years old, Joseph became one of the original sit-down strikers at the Chevy hole in 1930 to help create the UAW. Joyce and Sadie would walk down the RR tracks to sneak food and water to him. Louise loved people and her pets. She was someone that would listen carefully to every word someone would say before giving some thought-out advice that was always welcome. She loved to be called "Joyce" or "Sis. "She was loved and will be missed by her cat Joey and all who knew her. She is survived by her two sons David and Robert Johnson and her Granddaughter Cheyenne. She was preceded by her son, Frank Johnson and her five brothers Delmer, Joseph, Jim, Robert and William Kinzel.
