(Jack) Hallwood

HALLWOOD, John Allen (Jack), of Flint Township, age 83, passed away peacefully March 4, 2020 at home. Funeral mass will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Anthony Strouse officiating. Final interment will be at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Jack was born on February 16, 1937, the son of the late Richard and Emma (Dumler) Hallwood. He was a 1955 graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Flint. Jack married his true love, LeRiene Dwyer on September 15, 1956. They were married for 63 wonderful years sharing a beautiful life of love, laughter, family and devotion.
Jack had a tremendous work ethic. He began his work life as young teen-ager, working as an ice cream boy, a bowling pin setter and various other jobs. He discovered a love of photography while working for Van's Photo and established Hallwood Photography Studio which he owned and operated for many years. Jack was employed by General Motors in 1976 and retired after more than 25 years of service.
Jack was an avid weightlifter and spent many years in the gym. He was passionate about training and teaching proper weightlifting techniques. He also enjoyed yardwork and always had a project in process around his home. Jack loved music and dancing with his "little sweetheart," LeRiene. At any party they attended they could be found circling the dance floor in their own elegant style. Jack was larger than life and put tremendous effort into everything he did and never was that more evident than in the powerful legacy instilled in his children by his dedicated and unwavering commitment to the care of their mother.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, LeRiene, daughters, Victoria (Don) Laney, Lisa (late Chris) Cherwinski, Mary (Ron) Neifert and son, John Hallwood, grandchildren, Rob (Heather) Polovina, Brianna (Eric) Meldrum, Brendan Laney, Nicole (Mike) Wing, Anthony (Brittany) Cherwinski, Benjamin Cherwinski, Stewart (Alex) Neifert, Hannah (Cameron Hall) Neifert, Abbey (Layne Zirkle) Neifert, Great Grandchildren, Jackson and Annabelle Polovina, Mila and Chloe Meldrum, Braden, Evan, Jase and Reese Wing and Willa Cherwinski.
