MALASKA, James Edward, of Grand Blanc Township, age 93, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Tranquility Estates. Cremation has taken place. Final interment will occur 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.  Mr. Malaska was born May 2, 1929 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma the son of Lawrence and Rosa (Koscienly) Malaska.  He graduated from Monett High School, Monett, Missouri in 1947, having exceeded in academics and sports. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served from 1947 to 1952.  James then received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from General Motors Institute.  He worked at Chevrolet Motor Division, holding various management positions until his retirement in 1985.  James volunteered at the Red Cross and the Make A Wish Foundation.  Surviving are: his  children, Gary (Patty) Malaska, Linda Sullivan, Karen Shortt, Patti Briggs, Janet (Norm) Baker, and Steve (Tamie) Malaska; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Seppanan; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert, sister Rose Marie, and son Joseph.  The family wishes to extend special thanks to Compassionate Hospice Care, Absolute Healthcare Team, and the wonderful staff at Tranquility Estates.
