PETERSON, James Carl "Papa," of Swartz Creek, age 63, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Pastor Darrell Bailey officiating. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Peterson will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy, Flint Township, where friends may call 3-8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM until the time of service Thursday. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society or the Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance. Jim was born in Flint, June 28, 1952, the son of Carl and Laura (Adams) Peterson. He graduated from Ainsworth High School. He married the love of his life and best friend, Deborah Tindall, September 26, 1981 at Mackinac Island, Michigan, renewing those vows in 2006 on their 25th anniversary. Jim retired from GM Truck and Bus in 2003, after more than 30 years service. He was an active member of Michigan Cruisers for 29 years. Jim loved building cars and was currently working on a 1940 Plymouth. Surviving are: his wife of 34 years, Deborah; sister, Marie Wilson; brother- and sister-in-law, Bill and Judy Tindall; sisters-in-law, Ann Tindall, Margaret Peterson, and Evelyn Bonk; many nieces and nephews; special cousin Mike Peterson and many other cousins; his best buddy and "Chosen Daughter" Adrianne Kirkendolph; and feline friends, Mollie, Kenzie, and Tiki. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving mother-in-law Grace Thornton, four siblings, Chuck, Jerry, Beverley, and Caroline, and brother-in-law Robert Tindall.
