Obituary

CHURCH, Jack Byron, of Flint, age 78, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Durand Senior Care Center.  Private family visitation will be held.  Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.  Jack was born in Detroit, Michigan, January 20, 1942, the son of George and Garnet (Packer) Church.  He served as a drill Sergeant (E-5) in the U. S. Army for 36 years, retiring in January, 2002.  He spent the rest of his life volunteering at his apartment complex on Clio Road.  Jack was a father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  Surviving are:  2 daughters, Carol (Church) and husband Brian Sweet, Sr., and Nancy (Church) and husband Paul Ballou;  4 grandchildren, Tiffany and husband Jeffrey Menefee, Brian Sweet, Jr. and fiance' Clarissa Gosciniak, Samantha Ballou and boyfriend Cameron, and Krystie Ballou and Boyfriend Richard; 5 great grandchildren, Anna Marie Sweet, Katlyn Annette Kraszewski-Sweet, Wyatt Edward James Sweet, Kiya Nevaeh Menefee, and Alexzander Kruze Menefee; sister, Carol Vogan.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Patsy, Ellen, and Betty.
