STEELE, Everette "Johnny," of Fenton, age 83, passed from this life at his home in Fenton, surrounded by family and his best friend of over 60 years, Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Everette was born on February 20, 1937 in Jewell Valley, Virginia to Berke and Laura (Mullins) Steele. He graduated from Whitewood High School in Buchanan County, Virginia. He moved to Flint when he was 19 years old to work for GM. He built the family home in Fenton in 1970 and has lived there since.

Mr. Steele was employed at General Motors Flint Metal Fabricating Center as a tinsmith for almost fifty years. On March 31, 1962, he married Judith Ann Allen. They raised five children together: Gina (Chris) Drago of Flint, Chris (Tammy) Steele of Mt. Sterling, KY, Jason (Brandy) Steele of Fenton, and twins Jerrimy (Kristen) Steele and Jon (Melissa) Steele all of Fenton.

He had eight grandchildren including: Angelina Drago, Dominic Drago, Vincent Drago, Amanda Stacy, Trevor Stacy, Parker Judd, Chelsea Geyer and Lily Steele and also five great-grandchildren.

Everette had a passion for fishing, gardening, repairing cars and restoring his 1952 Ford truck and could build or repair just about anything. He taught many younger men how to weld, build things, repair cars and do all sorts of home repairs, as his pole barn was a local hangout and workshop.

He is survived by his five children, his very special sister Zell Smith, his best friend Ernie Hill and many special nieces, nephews and lots of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Judith, his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

At his request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Kevin Berry officiating.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, facemask use will be required.  Final interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a college fund for his grandchildren, in care of the family.
