DEMBEK, Donald R., of Linden, Michigan and Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Flushing, Michigan and Central Lake, Michigan, age 80, died Monday, November 28, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Rev. Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Cremation will follow with final interment in Flushing Cemetery. Mr. Dembek will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may call 2:00-8:00 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to De La Salle Collegiate High School or Davita Dialysis of Fenton. Don was born in Detroit, May 5, 1936, the son of Arthur and Helen (Thimm) Dembek. He was a graduate of De La Salle Collegiate High School in Detroit and attended the University of Detroit. He worked for the Pillsbury Company for more than 35 years. Don loved golf and loved his winters in Florida. He also enjoyed music and old movies. He had traveled extensively all over the world and had taken dozens of cruises. He was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed college football. Surviving are: wife, Dixie L. Dembek of Linden; children, Cindy (Steve) Luczek, Debra L. Lovasz, Denise (Brad) Kenrick, and Karen Fenton, all of Flushing, and Katie (Barry) Bias of Cathedral City, California; stepdaughters, Erin (Dale) King of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Renae (Troy) Muzer of Durand; 19 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thomas Dembek and Art Dembek, son, Derek Dembek, and daughter, Christine Dembek.
