DePOTTEY, Dennis Earl, of Mt. Morris, age 66, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Mr. DePottey will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may call 10AM-2PM and 4PM-8PM Wednesday, and from 10 AM until the time of service Thursday. Dennis was born in Flint, January 6, 1950, the son of Kenneth and Almeria (Bomar) DePottey. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1968. Mr. DePottey then served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was an accomplished card-player and won a little money from his family doing so. He was a devoted Detroit Lions and Detroit Pistons fan. Dennis also enjoyed bowling. Surviving are: daughter, Sarah DePottey; son, Derek DePottey; granddaughter, Leita; brother, Kenneth (Pam) DePottey; sister, Delores Ann Perry; several nieces and nephews; friends, Rick Palmer, Carl Gunnels, and Mike Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doris "Cookie" Judlin; and his beloved dog, Prancer.
