Darcy was born at Lapeer County General Hospital in Lapeer, Michigan, on a blustery Monday afternoon, January 29, 1962, the second of twin girls born to Donald and Lila Painter. Darcy was a boisterous child, always ready and willing to get dirty outside with the boys. Darcy spent time as a Girl Scout as a child, and also played softball and golf. She went on to graduate from Lapeer West High School in 1980. She also attended cosmetology school as she had a passion for making people feel beautiful. Darcy married her first husband right after graduating and they soon had a son James Michael Marquand, November 7, 1981. She spent the next decade or more as a hairdresser and as a waitress at multiple restaurants throughout Genesee County. Her first marriage ended and on May 6, 1995 she married a man she had known (seemingly) forever, John Joseph Dubay. She called him her best friend and soulmate. They lived together in Davison and October 16, 1997 Darcy and John brought a gorgeous baby girl into the world. They named their sweet angel Briana Nicole Dubay. She loved tending her garden and flowers, and loved to cook. She also loved to attend concerts, Nascar races, and Flint General hockey games. Darcy also loved to bring people together by hosting fun get-togethers, holiday celebrations, BBQ's, and parties. When her job forced her to move her family to Columbus, Ohio, the family spent the next decade travelling back to Michigan a few times annually to spend time with their beloved family and friends. Darcy was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. The bond that she shared with her twin sister, Dawn, was remarkably strong, and a beautiful thing to see in person. Darcy would give the shirt on her back to make sure that you were well taken care of. She had a huge heart, full of passion for people. She was also quite a spitfire. She would tell you exactly what her thought were, completely unfiltered. She was always the author of her own story and she truly lived and died on her own terms. Darcy will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace, our beautiful angel who has gained her wings. Surviving are: daughter, Briana (Oria Adams) Dubay and son, James Marquand both of of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Miranda Halverson of Wisconsin; mother, Lila Painter of Hadley, Michigan; brother, Terry (Chris) Painter of Rochester, Minnesota; twin sister, Dawn (James) Crossnoe of Burton, Michigan; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
