Obituary

LANG, Charles Leonard, of Flint, age 72, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 in Palm Bay Florida, after a battle with cancer. He spent his last 6 months in Florida under the care of his son, Charles D. (Chaz) Lang, stepson, Mathew J DePew, and former wife, Deborah Lang. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2PM Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, Rev. Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Charlie was born October 20, 1944, the son of Percy and Evelyn Lang. He graduated from Flint Central High School. Charlie worked at Buick City for 32 years. Charlie "The Bird" was a man who loved sports. He spent his whole life playing baseball, as well as softball and blooper ball. Also, if you knew Charlie, you know that he loved his Michigan sports teams. We don't remember a single time that he wasn't sporting a Michigan, Tigers, Lions, or Red Wings shirt. His love for competition spilled over onto the shuffle board table, where he was quite the ringer. Charlie played in shuffleboard tournaments all over the state, and country, but nobody loved him more than the shuffleboard gang at the Sports Coupe, which was his home away from home. Charlie is survived by: children, Chaz Lang, Katherine Lab, Barbara Lang, Cristie Laskey, and stepson, Mathew Depew; brother, Ronald (Diane) Lang; sisters, Joanne Tappen, Doreen Brown, Janet Atkins, and Janice West. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Lang, and sister- in-law, Bev, Sister, Barbara, brothers-in-law, Bill Tappen, Jerry Brown, and Max Michaels.
