OWEN, BERTA MAE, of Swartz Creek, age 91, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Berta will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy., Flint Township, where friends may visit 10AM-2PM and 5PM-8PM Thursday. Ms. Owen was born in Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, October 24, 1923. She worked at Robert Hall Clothing for many years, worked as a part-time school bus driver, and enjoyed the many friends she made as an Avon distributor. She retired from General Motors Flint V-8 Engine Plant after 22 years service. She loved flowers, gardening, and her cats, Smokey and Sissy. Surviving are: 6 children, Ann VanWinkle, Mary (Glen) Hagy, Norma Cowden, Vickie Klarich, Ken (Dori) Owen and Glenda Dixon; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons-in-law, R.L. and Steve, and by 1 grandchild.
