Obituary

MARTIN, Barbara Sue, of Flint Township, age 82, died Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Regency Grand Blanc.  Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Plumb–Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 N. Ballenger Hwy, Flint Township. Friends may visit 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, December 16.  Barbara was born April 29,1941, in Verona, Missouri to Otis and Flossie (Haley) Nelson.  She married Stanley Martin on October 5, 1957, and quickly settled in to being a mother and homemaker.  She worked many jobs to help support the family, finally retiring around 1988 to become a fulltime homemaker and grandmother.

Barb's life was spent being a supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She was always there for family either related by blood or chosen. You could always count on a meal or baked goods when visiting her home. She and Stan were active during their younger years in Muzzle loading and Reenacting.  Many summer vacations were spent camping at the different shoots and re-enacting events around Michigan.  During their later years they were very involved in scouting first with BSA Pack 42 in Flushing, they then moved to BSA Troop 31 and formed Pack 31 at Court Street United Methodist Church in Flint. Barb was always found planning fund raisers and activities for the boys.  She made many friends during her lifetime who were considered more than friends they were family.

Barbara is survived by her daughter,  Eva (Christopher) Karas; daughter-in-law, Christine Martin; sister, Robin (Kerry) Dennis; grandchildren, Thomas Martin, Jeremy (April) Martin, Nicholas (Kate) Martin, and Cassandra Karas; great grandchildren, Kayla Martin-Drew, Michael (Montana) Martin, Nicholas Martin, and Laithum (Devion) Martin; great great grandchildren,  Alexandra Martin, Allea Drew, Abel Martin, Jaxson Martin, Emma Drew; and future great great grandson, Oakley Martin; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley, son, Tony, Sister, Phyllis and, Brother, Keath. .
